What Does "Create Your Sound" Mean?

The exclusive and patented SCT™ system stands for System Creation Technology. This is the way that athena TECHNOLOGIES™ speakers and subwoofers function together as a team to accomplish the goal of a complete and balanced audio system. The SCT system provides simple visual set up of the AS-P400 subwoofer.

But how do I Integrate my Powered Subwoofer?

The problem with most subwoofers, is trying to get the best sound from them, especially when playing music. Subwoofers too often sound boomy, or they overpower the sound from the other speakers. When you get them home, there are many variables such as where to set the frequency and level controls on the subwoofer. These variables can greatly determine the quality of sound in the system.

The athena TECHNOLOGIES™ engineers' have completely eliminated all of this confusion with the invention our our patented System Control Technology. The "blend" as many refer to it between the subwoofer and other speakers in the system is crucial to the system sounding proper. The AS-P400 need only be connected, then simply set the Frequency dial to match the model number of athena TECHNOLOGIES™ AUDITION Series speakers that you have purchased. The model numbers are right there on the dial, so there's no guesswork as to what to do when you get home. Then just set the volume control to suit your taste and you're all finished!

There's no need for tweaking buttons, and endless adjustments, just great sound on the first try! Now how could set up be easier than that? The technology behind this control is unique to athena TECHNOLOGIES™ and is a critical part of what makes the SCT™ system so easy to work with. The entire A/V system can be assembled and wired in mere minutes with no guesswork, and perfect results!!

So are they really easy to hook up?

The connectors on the rear of the AS-P400 are well marked and easy to understand. Standard home theater receivers utilize a single RCA "Sub Out" jack. There are two RCA jacks on the back of the AS-P400, one marked "Direct In" and one marked "Sub In". If you have Audition Series or S.5 athena TECHNOLOGIES™ speakers, then use the "Sub In" jack and set the SCT Dial to match the model number of your speakers. That's it! If you have an older receiver or amplifier that isn't home theater based, there are also 5-way binding posts for connecting a high level speaker signal to the subwoofer. The owners manual shows many different wiring and system configurations, but rest assured your athena AS-P400 is ready to function in any music or home theater system.

Give me some Deep Bass!!

The woofers used in the athena TECHNOLOGIES™ products are designed for high performance, high efficiency, durability, and of course great sound! These cones are comprised of a composite multi-laminated material designed to stay rigid during the most extreme excursion. Yet it is light enough to enable fast movement, which means accurate and tight bass response!

The surround material is made from butyl rubber which is a sturdy and strong rubber. It will help provide a durable and long lasting driver structure for your speaker system.

Built to Last!

All of the athena TECHNOLOGIES™ products are manufactured from MDF which stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. This material is quite dense, and the most consistent type of wood available. Use of MDF ensures not only great sound, and minimum cabinet resonance, but also 100% consistency for all athena TECHNOLOGIES™ speakers.

Built in Power Amplifier?

The internal amplifier inside the AS-P400 subwoofer uses a design called MOSFET. This powerful design provides the strength to give the subwoofer the punch and precision that it needs to impress the entire room with authoritative bass response. MOSFET amplifiers are efficient, reliable, and operate at lower temperatures than standard transistor amplifiers, eliminating the need for huge costly heatsinks that also rob space from the sub's internal cabinet volume.
